Varying touches to take the ball into space and play forward
Description
In this session we are focusing on varying touches to take the ball into space and play forward. The drill begins with coach passing to the ball who looks to set back either side of the cone. Once the player has set the ball back for the second time they look to scan and drop to the mannequin to receive the ball and touch in front of the mannequin whilst moving round the back to then meet the ball and play forward. As soon as the player has passed the ball they look to the mannequin behind to receive and open out to play back to the coach before moving back to the middle to receive the ball back and take onto the opposite foot to play forward. The players body shape is vital to opening out to take the ball into space, the player has to open the hips and scan to be aware of the space around them. Each set should consist of 3 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
