Open out to play and accelerate to show sharp footwork

Description

In this session we are focusing on opening out to play and accelerating to show sharp footwork. The drill begins with the coach passing to the player who sets back and then moves to the outside of the cone to repeat. Once the player has set back on the outside of the cone, they look to scan and drop to the pole/mannequin behind where they aim to receive on the back foot to open out and play. After the player has passed the ball they look to accelerate towards and around the central cone showing sharp footwork to manoeuvre round and then meet the ball to repeat the drill. The player should ensure that they stay light on their feet and aware of their surroundings to stay in control. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
