Receiving the ball to open out and play across the pitch
Description
In this session we are focusing on receiving the ball to open out and play across the pitch. The drill begins with the player setting either side of the cone, before moving to the wide cone after the second set. Once the player has moved out, the coach plays into the player, who looks to receive the ball on the back foot to open out and play across into the goal/gate. The player then looks to react quickly to move across to the top cone to receive on the back foot again and pass back to the cone to drop in and repeat the drill. The player should ensure they check their shoulder to be aware of the space, and receive on the back to open out. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
