Taking the first touch into space to combine and play forward
Description
In this session we are focusing on taking the first touch into space to combine and play forward. The drill begins with the playing moving off the cone/pole to receive the ball and touch away from the body and into space. The player looks to take a maximum of 1/2 touches to take the ball past the opposite cone. Once the player has taken the ball past the cone, they look to play into the coach, before moving infront of the cone and dropping into the middle to receive the ball on the back foot to open out and pass back to the coach. The coach then looks to set the ball towards the player for them to touch into space and play forward. The player should ensure they receive the ball on the back foot, making sure their body shape allows them to open out quickly with the ball. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
