Receiving to play forward and combine to meet the ball
Description
In this session we are focusing on receiving to play forward and combining to meet the ball. The drill begins with the red player receiving and setting the ball back to the coach. The player then looks to move around the front of the cone to create space to receive the ball on the back foot to touch and play into the gate/goal across from them. The player then reacts to receive the ball off the blue player an set back and spin off to allow the blue player to play through to the coach to repeat the drill off the other side. The red player should ensure that they position themselves to receive on the back foot and see the space where they want to take the ball. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least two times per player.
