Setting and scanning to open out and change the direction
Description
In this session we are focusing on setting and scanning to open out and change the direction of play. The drill begins with the player setting the ball around the cone. After they set for the second time, the player checks their shoulder to move to the outside cone where they receive the ball to take across the body. The player then looks to play into the coach and move across to set around the cone before moving backwards. As the player moves to the highest cone, they look to receive and open out into the middle to play back into the coach and repeat. The player should look to receive on the back foot when opening out and ensure they check their shoulder to be aware of the space around them. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
