Improving the execution of first time passes and tempo
Description
In this session we are focusing on improving the execution of first passes and tempo. The drill begins with the coach passing into the player, every pass is a first time pass. The player then plays back, and moves to the other side of the cone/pole to repeat. On the coach instruction the player moves to one of the cones behind. When they receive the ball at the cone, they look to set across and move to the other side were they receive the ball again. The player then looks to drop the ball into the coach whilst moving short to receive the set back to play again. Once the ball has moved around and back into the middle, the player moves back to the central cone to repeat. It’s important that the passes aren’t played too hard, as it becomes more difficult to play first time, instead it should be cushioned to allow the tempo to be high. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
