Receive on the back foot in tight spaces to move away into space
Description
In this session we are focusing on receiving the ball on the back foot in tight spaces to then move away into space with the ball. The drill begins with the coach playing to the player who moves away from the cone/pole. The player then sets the ball back before moving across to the other cone were the coach looks to play to their back foot, with the player taking the ball away from the cone to play back. The player then moves back towards the start cone, were again they receive the ball off the coach, this time to take the ball away into space to play forward through a goal/gate. The players body angle is vital to opening out and receiving on the back foot. They should ensure they angle themselves to see the ball and the space they are looking to move into. Each set should consist of 6 - 10 reps and should be completed at least three times.
