Receiving to take into space


Description

In this session we are focusing on moving to receive and take the ball into space. The drill begins with the player moving short to receive and set back to the coach. The player then moves away towards one of the poles/cones behind to receive again, before opening out and passing to the coach. The player then looks to check their shoulder and move around the pole, furthest wide. As the player moves around the pole, the coach plays the ball through the middle of the gate for the player to move onto and take into space, before passing back to the coach and moving down the line of the ball. The player looks to take a strong touch to enable they can move into space quickly. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
