First touch ability to take it away from the defender
Description
In this session we are focusing on our first touch ability to take it away from the defender. The drill begins with the coach passing to the player who plays back first time and then checks their shoulder before dropping to the cone/pole behind. The player then receives the ball to touch inside on the back foot. The player then steps in to set before moving across to receive on the half turn to touch and turn. The players body shape is vital to receiving the ball on the back foot and enabling them to take the ball into space. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
