Receiving skills to open out and take the ball into space


Description

In this session we are focusing on our receiving skills to open out and take the ball into space. The drill begins with the player receiving and setting back to the coach either side of the cone. The player then scans and drops to middle cone to receive, touch and play back across to the coach. The player then moves inside to set back before moving to the outside to receive on the half turn and dribble into space. The player then passes back to the coach and repeats. The players body shape should be open and they need to scan their shoulder to be aware of the space around them. Each set should consist of 3 - 5 reps and should be completed at least two times each side (start the other end to focus on the left foot)
