Setting with Both Feet
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players ability to play first time passes, before opening out to play. The drill starts with the coach playing into the player in the middle. The player then sets back and moves into the next gate. This is repeated until the player returns back to the start point, meaning they are completing eight first time passes, using both feet. Once returning to the start point, the coach plays into the player for the final time, when the player receives the ball, they turn out and play to the player waiting. The player who receives the ball passes to the coach before moving to the outside of the pole/cone before repeating the same sequence. It’s important to help the players develop their ability to cushion the ball, as if they pass the ball too hard, it’s difficult to play first time. Both players should complete the sequence at least three times in each set, starting at different ends each time.
