Receiving skills and decision making to move away with the ball
Description
In this session we are focusing on receiving skills and decision making to move away with the ball. The drill begins with the coach passing the ball to the player who sets back on both sides of the cone before dropping to the middle cone to receive, touch and play. The player then moves across the front of the outside cone and adjust the body shape to receive on the back foot. The player has three options when they receive. They can either dribble to the top cone and turn, take a touch away from the body and turn or take a touch inside to play. Once the ball is played back to the coach the drill is repeated going the opposite way. The players body shape is important to receive, so they should be scanning and enabling themself to see the ball at all times. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
