Reacting to move quickly to retrieve the ball

Description

In this session we are focusing on reacting to move sideways/backwards to retrieve the ball. The drill begins with the players moving on the spot ready to react. The coach will shout a cone for the players to shuffle to and back to the middle. The coach can repeat this as many times as they want. The coach will then command the players to move backwards by shouting a number (1,2) for the players to move around, to then retrieve a ball to take forward and score. The players should ensure they retain a low body shape when shuffling and back-pedalling and scan their shoulders before moving backwards. Each set should consist of 3 - 5 reps and should be completed at least three times.
