Protecting the ball when turning to drive into space

Description

In this session we are focusing on protecting the ball when turning to drive into space. The drill begins with the player sprinting to the highest cone, before turning and sprinting to receive the ball. The player then looks to dribble to one of the wide cones and turn. As the player turns they look to shield the ball to prevent a defender from winning the ball. The player then moves back around the middle cone and out to the other side. After the player has turned for the second time they then look to play into the goal and return to the start point. The player should look to slow down as they approach to turn, and use the body to protect the ball. Each set should consist of 2 - 4 reps and should be completed at least three times.
