Quick reaction to build power & momentum to accelerate


Description

In this session we are focusing on building power and speed to accelerate into space. The drill begins with the player facing away from the coach and moving quickly on the spot. The coach shouts a number or side for the player to move to. The player then moves across the hurdles, pumping arms and knees, before moving out to the pole/cone. As the player reaches the cone, they look to turn and burst into space quickly. The player should ensure that they are on their toes and continue to pump their arms when moving through the hurdles and when sprinting. Each set should consist of 3 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
