X Shape Sprinting & Turning


Description

In this session we are focusing on our players sprinting and turning, both with and without the ball. The drill starts with the players sprinting to pole/cone diagonally opposite, then turning and sprinting to the pole infront of the them. Once they turn again, the players sprint to the pole diagonally opposite themselves again, before turning and finishing by sprinting past their starting pole. It’s important for the players to recognise the need to slow down when approaching corners, to ensure they can turn quickly, to then accelerate into space. The drill remains the same when the ball is introduced, the players now have to focus on their ball control. The drill should be completed at least three times both with/without the ball.
