Close Down, React, Burst Out


Description

In this session we are focusing on our players sprinting, backpedaling and burst into space. The drill begins with the player sprinting into the nearest middle pole/cone, before backpedaling around the pole they sprant from. The player then sprints upto the next pole infront before repeating. The player should always touch the middle pole to reenact getting close to an opposition player, before backpedaling back towards goal, or showing the opposition one way. The longer sprint represents a transition to move up the pitch. This drill should be completed at least three times, and can incorporate being introduced to dribble, or the coach can add defensive headers on the backpedal.
