Sprint, Backpedal to Transition

Description

In this session we are focusing on our players sprinting and backpedaling without the ball, and their dribbling and turning with the ball. Firstly, without the ball, the player begins by sprinting to the middle pole/cone diagonally opposite. Upon reaching the middle pole, the player then backpedals diagonally opposite, before sprinting upto the pole infront. The sequence then changes as the player backpedals first, diagonally into the middle again, before sprinting out again to finish. Secondly, with the ball, the sequence remains the same, except the player is now dribbling. We are looking for the player to change direction quickly and always be in control of the ball. It’s important that the players(s) body angle when backpedaling is in line with the direction of how the ball would be travelling. The drill should be completed at least three times both with and without the ball.
