Handling and reacting to shuffle forward/back to save

Description

In this session we are focusing on our players handling and reaction to shuffle forward/back to save. The drill begins with the coach kicking the ball into the players mid-rift/chest for them to handle before throwing away. The coach then shouts a number of a cone for the player to move towards to then push across and save a ball played on the floor. Once the player has saved the ball, they look to get back onto their feet quickly to react to move backwards and save again. The aim is for the player handle and protect the ball. If the player can’t handle the ball, they should look to push it as far away as they can. The player should ensure that they stay light on their feet and make sure they face the ball when moving. Each set should consist of 2 - 4 reps and should be completed at least three times.
