Reacting quickly to dive and claim the loose ball


Description

In this session we are focusing on reacting quickly to dive and claim the loose ball. The drill begins with the player facing the coach, who plays the ball to the waiting player. As the ball travels across, the keeper looks to get themselves central. The player who receives the ball looks to touch the ball into space either centre, left or right of the cones. This then triggers the keeper to react quickly to dive and claim the ball to reenact a loose ball in the box. The player should ensure they protect the ball with the body and keep it close. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least two times per player each side.
