Closing Down & Transitioning
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players movement to close down, before setting to save. The drill starts on the coaches instruction of saying a coloured cone, or they can be numbered. The player moves towards the cone, as if they are closing an attacker down, before moving back to retain a position to save. The poles can be used to add both deflections and something to block the sight of the ball from the keeper so they have to adjust and react quickly. Each set should consist of 4-6 reps, and should be completed at least three times.
