Save near post & react to far post
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players ability to save at the near post, and then react to save at the far post. The drill begins with the player moving into the pole/cone, before moving back to save at the near post and steer the ball away from goal. The goalkeeper then reacts to move across the goal, where the ball will be played off a rebound board to move towards the goal. If you don’t have access to a rebound board, the player who passes the ball against the board can take the place of the board instead. The players ability to stay light on their feet and move quickly across goal will ensure they are in a position to save. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times per player.
