Accelerate and recover quickly to block the shot


Description

In this session we are focusing on accelerating and recovering quickly to block the shot. The drills begins with the players on opposite ends. On the coaches instruction, the players look to accelerate to the opposite side and around the cone/pole. The defender aims to turn and close the goal off as quickly as possible, with the attackers aim to get to the ball quickly and shoot. When the defender travels towards goal, they should move across and back and not just backwards as this will enable them to close more of the goal off quicker. Each set should consist of 2 - 5 reps and should be completed at least two times.
