Body shape when jockeying, ability to block and transition
Description
In this session we are focusing on our body shape when jockeying and ability to block and transition. The drill begins with the coach instructing the player to move. The coach looks to change the direction the player moves with the ball in their hand, if they hold the left side up the player adapts the body shape and vice versa for the right. As the player reaches the cone behind the coach shouts a number for the player to shuffle towards and then back across the goal to block a pass/shot. The coach then rolls a loose ball into play for the player to react quickly and play into one of the two goals/gates. The player needs to ensure they stay light on their feet, check their shoulders and be aware of where the ball is at all times. Each set should consist of 3 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
