Sharp movements to head, intercept and block the ball


Description

In this session we are focusing on sharp movements to head, intercept and block the ball. The drill begins with the player pushing off the mannequin/pole to meet and head the ball. The player then looks to react quickly to move around the cone and drop infront of the mannequin to intercept the ball, before then travelling towards the agility ladder. The player looks to move across the ladder quickly, ensuring the heels stay off the ground and they pump the arms. Once the player moves out of the ladder, they look to move towards the goal/gate to block a pass. The player should adapt their body shape to ensure that they can see the ball when moving and changing direction. Each set should consist of 2 - 5 reps and should be completed at least three times.
