Shuffling across and reacting to step and drop quickly
Description
In this session we are focusing on shuffling across and reacting to step and drop quickly. The drill begins with the player shuffling across, changing direction each time they reach a cone. On the coaches instruction, the player will either step or drop. If the coach shouts step on its own, then the play steps up centrally and drops back. If the coach shouts step and the followed by left or right, the play will step up and then intercept the ball. The same applies when dropping, except instead of intercepting, the player will head clear. Body shape is something that should be focused on, ensuring the player isn’t square on when travelling and changing direction. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
