Defensive movements to intercept, head and transition
Description
In this session we are focusing on our defensive movements and body shape to intercept, head and transition. The drill begins with the player behind the mannequin/pole. The coach will instruct the player to move to one of four options. 1&2 are the two side cones, where the player shuffles out to intercept the ball thrown towards the feet. Option 3 sees the player drop to meet and head the ball clear. Option 4 is a transition, we’re the player looks to drop either side of the cone behind to receive the ball, open out and play forward. The player should ensure they stay alert and ready to react and be aware of their surroundings. Each set should concist of 4 - 6 reps which end in passes and should be completed at least three times.
