Explode out to block and drop/step to head the ball clear
Description
In this session we are focusing on exploding out to block the ball and transition to drop/step to head the ball clear. The drill begins with the player jumping over the hurdles, using power built up in the knees and keeping the heels off the floor. After the player moves over the hurdles, the coaches will instruct the player to move to one side. As the player crosses the cone/pole, the coach looks to pass the ball into the goal/gate with the player looking to block. The player then transitions to drop around the middle cone and step forward to head the ball clear. The player should head the ball away with height and maintain contact through the ball. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
