React quickly to block and take the loose ball to play forward
Description
In this session we are focusing reacting to move across the goal to block the ball and transition to take the loose ball into space and play forward. The drill begins with the player moving on the spot ready to react. The coach will shout a cone/pole for the player to move to. After the player has moved to the cone, they then look to travel back across the goal to block a shot. As soon as the player has blocked the shot, the coach looks to roll a ball in for the player to move onto to and touch into space to play forward. The player should ensure that they stay light on their feet and don’t cross the legs over when travelling across the goal, and always face the ball. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
