Sharp footwork to intercept the ball and transition to receive

Description

In this session we are focusing on sharp movements to intercept the ball and transition to receive. The drill begins with the player stepping infront of the mannequin to intercept a ball in the air. The player then looks to shuffle back around the mannequin quickly to intercept a ball on the floor. Once the player has intercepted the ball, they aim to step up to the cone ahead, to then transition into a backpedal to clear a ball thrown in the air. After the player heads clear, they should check their shoulder and move to the outside of the cone behind them to receive the ball on the back foot to open out across the body and pass to the coach. The player then repeats the drill working off the opposite side. At all times the player should ensure they stay light on their feet to move quickly and react. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
