Restricting Attacker Space

Description

In this session we are focusing on our players body shape when defending. The drill is completed both opposed and unopposed. Firstly, the drill begins unopposed with the player sprinting out to one of the poles/cones diagonally opposite the start point. Once the player reaches the pole, they look to jockey backwards on a side angle as if they are preventing the opposition space inside the pitch. When the player reaches the pole behind, they then shuffle back into the middle, before repeating in the other direction. The drill should be completed three times unopposed, before the coach then becomes involved and dribbles when the player is jockeying. The player should look to keep an arms length distance away from the ball, to enable them to step in and win the ball, and be able to adapt if the coach looks to try move inside. The drill should be completed at three times opposed.
