Stepping in to intercept, drop to head & reacting to block


Description

In this session we are focusing on intercepting, heading and blocking. The drill begins with the player moving through the middle of the cones/poles to intercept a ball throw in the air. The player then looks to move around and back beyond the deeper cone, we’re the coach will then throw the ball for the player to head clear. Once the player heads the ball away, they look to move around the cone to the side and back across goal to block a ball played in by the coach. The player should ensure they intercept the ball with power and retain contact through the ball and look to head the ball away from goal with height. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
