Intercepting Passes

Description

In this session we are focusing on our players movement to intercept/clear the ball. The drills begins with the coaches instruction of either left, right or back. This indicates to the player where to move. If the instruction is left/right, the player manoeuvres through the poles/cones and out infront of the outside pole to clear a ball. The coach will either roll, bounce or throw the ball for the player to clear. The player moves infront of the pole to reenact stepping infront of the opposition to win the ball. If the coach instructs the player to move back, the player back pedals behind the pole, with the coach either throwing the ball up for the player to head clear, or bouncing the ball in for the player to protect the ball and then pass back. The player always returns to the middle, before the coaches next instruction. The drill should be completed for 30-60 seconds depending on the players age, and repeated at least three times.
