Reacting quickly to step and accelerate/drop to clear


Description

In this session we are focusing on reacting quickly to step up and accelerate, and drop to clear the ball. The drill begins with the player moving on the spot to be ready to react. The two cones either side will be numbered, with the coach saying a number for the player to shuffle to, and then back to the middle. If the coach says a number and says step, the player will shuffle and then sprint out and past the pole. if the coach says a number and says drop, the player will shuffle and then back pedal towards goal to clear a ball thrown in the air, or on the ground. The player should look to face forward when shuffling to be able to see the ball at all times. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
