Movement and body shape when travelling backwards
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players movement and body shape when travelling backwards. The drill begins with fast footwork moving across the cones/ladder. On the coaches instruction, the player looks to shuffle across the pitch, changing their angle at every cone/pole. Once the player reaches the final cone, the coach plays the ball into the player to open out and play forward. The player should maintain a body shape which ensures that they can see the ball at all times, whilst protecting the space. They should be side on, and when travelling not crossing the feet over. Each set should consist of 3 - 5 reps and should be completed at least three times.
