Receiving to play forward before transitioning to head clear
Description
In this session we are focusing on receiving the ball to play forward and transitioning to head the ball clear. The drill begins with the player moving across the ladder/cones. As the player moves out of the ladder, they look to bounce passes either side of the pole/cone, before moving backwards to the pole behind to receive on the back foot and open out to play forward. The player then looks to step up and around the pole in front to transition to defend a ball travelling over their head to clear away. The players body shape when receiving should be open to take the ball into space and they should be light on their feet when travelling backwards. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
