Ability to change angles & transition to head & intercept
Description
In this session we are focusing on changing angles and transitioning to enable our players to head, intercept and block the ball. The drill begins with the player moving through the poles/cones, before moving out to head the ball clear. The player then steps in quickly to the cone ahead, and then transitions to travel backwards to the cone behind. As the player moves around the cone, they look to move in between the two cones to intercept the ball and then travels backwards again to move around the cone behind. Once the player has moved around the cone, the coach looks to play the ball on the floor towards the goal, with the player moving across quickly to intercept. The player should ensure that they retain a low body position when moving backwards and are always on their toes. Each set should consist of 3 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
