Travelling back towards goal to intercept the ball


Description

In this session we are focusing on travelling back towards goal to intercept the ball. The drill begins with the player travelling through the agility ladder, before moving up to the pole/cone ahead of them. As the player reaches the pole, they then begin to move back towards goal, whilst the coach looks to throw the ball over the players head, with the player aiming to head away from goal. The player then moves around the pole to their right, to move back across goal to intercept a ball on the floor. The player should look to be on their toes at all times and retain a low body shape when moving to and from the poles. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times on either side.
