Retaining body shape when changing direction to clear

Description

In this session we are focusing on retaining our body shape as we change direction to enable the chance to clear the ball. The drill begins on the coaches instruction. The coach will number the poles 1 & 2, and then have two coloured cones. One can represent forward and two backwards. An example would be 1, 2 , blue, meaning that the player will move, forward, backwards and then to the blue cone before moving across the goal to block. The players body shape is vital, they should always be side on as it enables them to move quicker, as well as being able to see the ball and defend the space. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
