Heading clear to transition

Description

In this session we are focusing on our players ability head the ball and then transition to receive the ball. The drill begins with the player moving through the agility ladders sideways. As the player moves out of the ladder, they move around the pole/cone to build momentum to then head the ball clear. The player then steps up to touch the pole infront of them to replicate stepping towards the ball. Once the player touches the pole, they instantly look to transition, moving backwards towards the pole behind, where they receive the ball to open out and play back to the coach before moving through the ladders again. When heading the ball clear, the player should aim to get height on the ball, as in a game that becomes more difficult for a shot to be taken and is harder to control than a header directly towards the floor. Each set should consist of 6 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
