Recover goal side & intercept

Description

In this session we are focusing on our players ability to recover to get goal side of the attacker to then intercept the ball. The drill begins with both players moving through the agility ladder, before sprinting up and around the poles/cones. The player who gets round the second pole first receives the ball from the coach. That player then looks to travel quickly and dribble the ball in to the endzone. The other player then becomes the defender, who is looking to recover by covering the ground quickly to get goal side to then prevent the attacker moving into the endzone. This can replicate when a team transitions and an attacker receives in space, we then have to recover quickly and deny a goal scoring opportunity. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps with rest in between and should be completed at least three times.
