Cover ground quickly to intercept

Description

In this session we are focusing on our players ability to cover ground quickly to intercept and transition to play forward. The drill begins with the coach playing a ball in to the player, who takes the ball across the body and passes back. The player then moves towards the pole/cone on the outside before changing direction to move through the two central poles, where they intercept a pass and move back around the poles, before moving onto the ball to play a forward pass through the gate. The drill them repeats from the opposite side. Important things to relay on to the player is to shift the feet quickly when move backwards and to make sure they get a low body position so they retain balance. Also, the player should ensure that when passing the ball, they follow through once they make contact. Each set should consist of 4 - 8 reps and should be completed at least three times.
