Defending the cross
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players ability to defend a cross when moving back towards goal. The drill begins with the player moving out of the triangle. The player moves to one of the four poles/cones, to represent stepping to close down an attacker. The player then reacts to move towards goal, whilst the coach looks to cross the ball into an area for the player to clear away from goal. The players body shape should be open to see the ball but also enable them to see oncoming attackers in a game. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
