Deflect away from goal and travel quickly to block
Description
In this session we are focusing on deflecting away from goal and travelling quickly to block. The drill begins with the player moving to the middle cone, back to the start and up to the furthest cone. As the player reaches the cone the cone or teammate will shout ‘GO’ for the player to then travel to their side. The player with the ball looks to create an opening to shoot into the small goal with the defender closing them down and deflecting away from goal to then win the ball. As soon as that phase is finished the player then travels across the pitch to block a shot from the opposite side. Each set should consist of 2 - 4 reps and should be completed at least three times per player.
