Interceptions, body shape when moving to head and block

Description

In this practice we are focusing on interceptions and our body shape when moving to head and block. The drills begins with the coach playing the ball into the player either on the floor, bouncing or in the air for the player to intercept. When the coach shouts ‘GO’ the player then drops to the nearest cone/pole to then attack the ball thrown in the air to head clear. The player then moves back inside to block a shot headed towards goal. The players body shape should be open when travelling backwards and then they should look to shuffle across goal to enable themselves to clear the ball with either foot depending on where the shot is played. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
