Transition to Clear
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players ability to transition from both defence to attack, and attack to defence. The drills begins with the coach throwing the ball up for the player to head back, before moving through the middle poles, to step out to one of the wider poles. The player should touch the pole, but not get too close, before shuffling back towards the deep pole, where they receive a ball from the coach, to open out and play through the gate. As soon as the player passes the ball, they look to react and recover towards goal to clear a ball which is either thrown or passed in by the coach. The players body angle when stepping up and back pedalling should always enable them to see the ball. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps, and should be competed at least three times.
