Transition into 1 v 1
Description
In this session we are focusing on our players ability to recover quickly to defend a 1 v 1 scenario. The drills begins with the coach throwing a ball up for the player to head clear. The player then moves through the poles/cones to travel forward to the opposite side of the attacker. The player must touch the pole for the 1 v 1 to start. The attacker looks to attack the space quickly and travel past the end line. The defender aims to recover quickly and stop the attacker travelling forward. The defender should look to slow down the attacker once they got into an area to defend the situation, and then engage to win the ball when the attackers looks to move forward. The drill should consist of 4-6 reps and should be completed at least three times, with players swapping over after each set.
