Step in to intercept, body shape when back pedalling to head clear
Description
In this session we are focusing on stepping in to intercept, body shape when back pedalling to head clear. The drill begins with the player stepping through the gate in front to intercept a ball thrown in the air. The player then drops back and through the gate behind before moving round the cone/pole. The player should ensure they stay light on their feet and that the body shape enables them to see the ball whilst back pedalling. Once the player moves round the cone they look to attack the ball thrown in the air to head clear. The player should always look to head the ball high. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
