Transitions to intercept and head the ball clear from goal
Description
In this session we are focusing on transitions to intercept and head the ball clear from goal. The drill begins with the coach passing the ball to the player who looks to receive the ball to open out and play back. The player then steps out to intercept the ball at the feet before then transitioning to travel back towards goal where the coach will attempt to throw the ball over the players head with the aim to clear away from goal. The player should stay light on their feet and ensure they adapt their body shape to be side on. Each set should consist of 4 - 6 reps and should be completed at least three times.
